Hanoi University Of Science And Technology (Hust) & FPT Automotive Discuss New Academic Program

On the morning of August 9, 2024, representatives from the School of Information and Communication Technology and the School of Mechanical Engineering of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) visited and worked with the leadership of FPT Automotive at Hola Park to develop an Automotive Engineering training program.

This event was part of a strategic meeting and appreciation program for FA’s The Mentor Community. It provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange practical experience, clearly identify training needs, and discuss specialized directions to supply high-quality human resources to the market. FA and HUST aim to finalize the cooperative training program by October and begin student enrollment this year.

At the meeting, Mr. Vũ Tuấn Mạnh, CDO of FPT Automotive, emphasized FPT Automotive’s vision to become a pioneer in the automotive software field by 2030, making a difference in making cars more user-friendly and connected. With an annual growth rate of 40%, FPT Automotive’s demand for manpower is increasing. Currently, FA only meets 30%-35% of its workforce needs, primarily through internal training. Therefore, partnering with universities, especially HUST, is a crucial strategy for building a high-quality workforce.

Mr. Nguyễn Tuấn Minh, Chief Human Resource Officer of FPT Software, spoke about FPT Software’s specialization development strategy following its milestone of reaching $1 billion in revenue. FPT Automotive, with its independence in development and the ability to attract numerous automotive experts, has demonstrated deep investment capabilities, thereby earning the trust of customers with larger projects. Mr. Minh also emphasized the importance of developing human resources through close cooperation with universities, particularly in the automotive technology field.

Representing HUST, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tạ Hải Tùng, Rector of the School of Information and Communication Technology, expressed a desire for extensive cooperation with FPT Automotive so that students have access to practical knowledge and good job opportunities after graduation. At the same time, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tùng shared insights on the rapid development of AI and generative technology, as well as its impacts on industry and society. He expects AI to become a breakthrough technology, creating a leap in labor productivity, but also stressed the need for adaptation and retraining to minimize negative impacts.

After that, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đàm Hoàng Phúc, Director of the Automotive Engineering Program, School of Mechanical Engineering (HUST), shared the fundamentals of “Modeling and Synthesis of Driver Assistance Systems”.

The guests discussed approaches to engaging young generation in the Automotive sector. This generation is strong in technology adoption and cnfident in expressing their individuality. However, young generation also faces challenges in resilience and requires clear career guidance. This necessitates close collaboration between businesses and universities to develop appropriate training programs, thereby attracting and nurturing young generation’s passion for automotive technology.
